Morocco - Imperial cities

Itinerary (subject to change)

DAY 1:

Early morning check-in at the international Airport Frankfurt Terminal 1. We fly with Lufthansa and Discover (Lufthansa group) via Munich to Marrakesh,  Morocco (07:15 - 08:10 am from Frankfurt to Munich and 09:25 am - 1:20 pm from Munich to Marrakesh). After meeting our local guide we drive to our booked 5-star Hotel resort. After hotel check-in, time to freshen up and dinner at our booked hotel.

DAY 2:

After buffet breakfast in our hotel and check out, drive to Rabat, which has a special fascination for every foreigner with its picturesque Kasbah perched high up and its important sights. You will visit the Royal Palace (from the outside), the unfinished Hassan Tower - the symbol of the city, the Oudaya Kasbah, and the magnificent Mausoleum made of brilliant white marble of the late kings Mohammed V and Hassan II. Hotel check-in and dinner at our booked hotel.

DAY 3:

After buffet breakfast in our hotel and check out, drive to Meknes. Gigantic walls surround the city, which was shaped by the mighty Sultan Moulay Ismail. You will visit the most monumental gate in Morocco - the Bab Mansour, the tomb mosque of Moulay Ismail, and the souks. We continue to Fes. Hotel check-in, free time and dinner at our booked hotel.

DAY 4:

After buffet breakfast in our hotel we're going to discover the oldest and most important of the four royal cities of Morocco. Immerse yourself in the bewildering variety of alleys, souks and mosques in the Medina, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981. You'll first drive to the Borj Sud lookout point, from which you have a wonderful view of the city. You'll then walk through the lively and fascinating alleys of the Medina. The tour takes you through the quarters of the carpenters, dyers, tanners, tailors, chasers or past the constant hammering of the coppersmiths. You'll see the Zaouia (mausoleum) of Moulay Idriss, the Kairouan Mosque (from the outside) - one of the oldest in the Arab world - the Medersa Attarine as well as the tannery and weaving mill. At the end of the tour you will see the Mellah, the former Jewish quarter, the Royal Palace (from the outside), and then drive to the Borj Nord viewpoint. Dinner and overnight in Fes.

DAY 5:

Buffet breakfast in our hotel and check out. Today we continue past Rabat to Casablanca. On a tour you will get to know the famous metropolis of Africa better. You will see the Houbous quarter - the new Medina, which was built by the French in 1923, the church of Notre Dame de Lourdes, the Mahakma - the former residence and court seat of the Pasha. Only completed in 1956, it is an astonishingly good copy of an Andalusian-Moorish palace. Along the Corniche Ain Diab you will reach the Hassan II Mosque, the second largest mosque in the world after Mecca. This mosque is the most impressive sight in the otherwise rather modern city of Casablanca. With its 200-meter-high minaret and the 30-kilometer-long laser beam, it is visible from far away at night (Interior tour optional). After hotel check-in, we go to Rick's Cafe for an early dinner, a homage to the film Casablanca. Overnight in Casablanca.

DAY 6:

After breakfast and check out, we drive to Marrakesh, the Oasis city located against the magnificent backdrop of the High Atlas. Nowhere in the country do the eyes receive African, oriental impressions better than here. Around 100,000 palm trees in groves around the city walls of Marrakesh dominate the picture. The lively souks, the location in a palm oasis and the red clay buildings give Marrakesh the character of a desert city. After checking in, drive to the old town and walk through the lively souks, which are the largest in the country. In the late afternoon, walk along the Djemaa el Fna. Here the oriental way of life has remained alive. It is most lively between afternoon and dusk. This square is a perpetual folk festival, a folkloristic fairground. Musicians of all kinds, acrobats, storytellers, snake charmers, and much more perform here. Dinner in our booked hotel.

DAY 7:

Buffet breakfast in our hotel followed by a tour of Marrakesh. The city was founded in the 11th century and has outstanding cultural monuments of the Hispano-Moorish style from the 11th to the 19th century. You will see, among other things, the Koutoubia Mosque, a masterpiece of Moorish architecture (from the outside), the Menara, the El Badi and Bahia Palaces and the Bab Agnaou - the oldest gate of the city wall. Free time in the afternoon. Dinner to end the trip in a typical Moroccan restaurant in the Medina. Overnight in our booked hotel.

DAY 8:

Buffet breakfast in our booked hotel. Free time until noon time before we say good bye to this lovely country. Transfer to the International Airport Marrakesh. Flight with Discover (Lufthansa group) at 3:35 pm back to Frankfurt at 7:30 pm.
