IRELAND - DUBLIN ST. PATRICKS
From March 16th to 19th there will be so much on offer - music, street theatre, family carnivals, comedy, street performances, dance, a treasure hunt, night spectacles .... culminating on March 17th with the world famous St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Over four days, 4000 performers and one million people will be celebrating Ireland. So whether you are Irish or just wish you were, Ireland is the place to be next March to enjoy Ireland’s biggest party
DAY 1:
Check in time at Frankfurt Airport in the morning. We fly direct from Frankfurt to Dublin (10:50 a.m.-12:05 p.m.). After arriving in Dublin we will be picked up by our bus and drive to the center. We start with a city sightseeing tour of Dublin (included). We will visit the 16th century Trinity church which was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I of England (entrance fee not included). Here is displayed the legendary Book of Kells, an illuminated manuscript dating from the 8th century. We visit also the St. Patrick’s Cathedral where Jonathan Swift was Dean whilst he wrote the famous „Gulliver’s Travels“. After sightseeing, we check in to our downtown 4-star hotel (in walking distance of the main attractions of Dublin). In the evening we recommend a dinner with typical Irish music and Irish dance (extra).
DAY 2:
After Irish breakfast in our Hotel (included) full day free to enjoy the celebrations of St. Patrick‘s Day. Later this afternoon you may want to attend in a whiskey tasting at the famous Jameson Distillery and/or a beer tasting at Guinness Storehouse and brewery (please let us know by booking, if you like to participate).
DAY 3:
After Irish breakfast (included), we start with our excursion to the County of Wicklow (included). The County of Wicklow is known as the garden of Ireland. We visit the beautiful Powerscourt Gardens (entrance fee included). Afterwards we drive to Glendalough, which is located in a deep, dark valley between a bowl of hills in Wicklow. Here in the 8th century St. Kevin lived as a hermit but so great was his knowledge that he soon gathered students around him who developed a monastic settlement. It grew in size and importance until there were over 1000 Students here in the 10th century. In the afternoon we can make a stop at an Avoca outlet shop for traditional woolen works. Early evening arrival at the hotel. Time to join a dinner in one of the cozy pubs of Dublin. Your guide will make suggestions.
DAY 4:
After Irish breakfast in our Hotel (included) we check out by 11:00 am. We will visit the lovely fishing village Howth for a seafood lunch (extra) before we depart for the Airport of Dublin. Check in and flight back to Frankfurt, Germany (4:00 p.m. - 7:10 p.m.). Arrival early evening.
